ProPhotos

ProPhotos trains a proprietary diffusion model that sits on top of Stable Diffusion XL 1.0. The company augments the open-source base with two proprietary datasets:

• a high-resolution studio photography corpus (≈ 1.2 M images) licensed from boutique headshot studios in New York, Paris, and Tokyo; and
• a synthetic augmentation layer that applies randomized lighting conditions, focal lengths, and facial expressions to triple the effective dataset size.

Fine-tuning is executed on an 8×A100 cluster using LoRA adapters to keep GPU costs under $0.12 per user session. The adapter weights are purged every 72 hours to mitigate model-drift and privacy concerns. The three-tier structure is intentionally anchored at $59 for the Professional plan—close enough to a traditional studio sitting ($100–$150) to feel like a bargain, yet high enough to maintain margin. The 30-minute turnaround in the top tier leverages time-sensitivity as a premium lever. Enterprise accounts (500+ seats) receive volume pricing at $29 per employee and a white-label dashboard, opening a secondary revenue stream in HR SaaS.
