Convai is a developer-first platform that adds life-like, voice-driven conversation to game and XR characters. It bundles end-to-end speech (ASR/TTS), large-language-model reasoning, long-term memory, perception and action execution in one SDK that drops into Unity, Unreal, WebGL, PlayCanvas and Mixed Reality projects. Through a browser-based Playground users craft a character’s back-story, voice, knowledge base and safety filters, then test the result in a 3-D scene before pushing it live. Once deployed, NPCs speak and listen in real time, recall prior encounters, query custom knowledge banks to avoid hallucination, trigger in-game actions, and even hold NPC-to-NPC dialogues. Convai’s cloud scales from a free tier (100 monthly interactions) to enterprise SLA and on-prem installs, offering lip-sync, head/eye tracking, multilingual support and analytics out of the box.
